Glorious Discussions Concerning Interactive Entertainment: SubSpace Continuum

March 22, 2011

Just in case all of the non-fun artsy games we’ve discussed this term have got you down, just in case you’re tired of games without real gameplay, we’ll be doing something completely different for the next GDCIE, which will be Tuesday March 29, 2011 at 6:00pm in MC 4059. This will be the last GDCIE of the term and we’ll be discussing:

SubSpace Continuum, by (originally) Virgin Interactive Entertainment

This one’s a multiplayer game. If you’re interested in checking it out on your own it has been recommended that you try the Extreme Games or the Trench Wars servers, both of which have a reasonably large player base.

If you’d rather play with other GDC type people, we’ll be running a server, hosted by member Jason Cole, this weekend. We’ll plan to play together Saturday March 26 and Sunday March 27 from 7:00pm onward. [Edit] The server is no longer active. [/Edit].

Nothing left to say,
Jonathan Semple

Chaos Zone SVS has the original game settings from when it went retail.

Please come and have a look there as well, we’d be honoured to see some fresh blood. 🙂

You all should stop by Chaos/League Zone which does have (very close to) original SVS settings. Say you’re from UW and we’ll give you a helping hand — ideally get you riding some good turret driver — a great way to get started playing.

We have good population in the afternoons and evenings, particularly on the weekends. On Sundays at 3 and 4pm ET there are Pro League games where you can watch the best of the best play. You can also play in Warzone, a great CTF game, which runs at 5pm ET on Sundays.
