Glorious Discussions Concerning Interactive Entertainment: Recapitulation and Feedback

March 30, 2011

The last GDCIE of the term has been and gone. This term we played and discussed:

Loved, by Alexander Ocias

A Decision of Paramount Importance, by Thomas Liu

Hero Core, by Daniel Remar

Digital: A Love Story, by Christine Love

Yume Nikki (Dream Diary), by Kikiyama

One Chance, by Awkward Silence Games (post)

suteF, by Rotten Tater (Ted Lauterbach) (post)

L’Abbaye des Morts, by Locomalito (post)

SubSpace Continuum, by (originally) Virgin Interactive Entertainment (post)

That’s a pretty good list, I would say. You might find it worthwhile to give a go at any of the games you had no time to play earlier in the term.

If you have any feedback on the GDCIE, positive or negative, preferably constructive, either let me know in the comments or yell at me using the club email (uw.gamedevclub [at] gmail [dot] com). I’ve already gotten a bit of feedback from members at the last meeting, but more is always welcome. This is the first term we’ve done this, so it’s nice to know what I’m doing right and/or wrong (mostly wrong, I suspect).

The GDCIE will continue in the spring term, for those of you who are here. If you’re off campus, there’s certainly no harm in playing the games we discuss on your own.

Nothing left to say,
Jonathan Semple

ps. It seems I should have given more information on how to connect to a custom Subspace server this past weekend. I apologize to anyone who had troubles, and take full responsibility for the inability to play together.
