Introductory Game Programming

September 28, 2011

Hello all!

This weekend on Saturday October 1st at 1pm the Game Development Club will be holding an introductory session to game programming. If you have even a bit of experience with programming in something (could be anything; like Visual Basic) you should be fine. We will be using Python with a small game library called PyGame for development. This meeting will be structured as a sort of tutorial/workshop, with us doing the introduction and teaching while you try things on your own (don’t worry, we’ll be there to help with anything you want to do).

Due to current booking issues, the room is TBD. We are trying to book a Mac lab in MC since everything will already be set up there – but just in case we can’t you may need to bring a computer of some kind. If you want to try installing some of the tools early, I’ll provide some links at the bottom. In the meantime I’ll make another post once we know what’s going on with the room.

Your Friendly Neighbourhood Computer Scientist and GDC Executive,
Brook Jensen

P.S. Don’t worry if you’re having issues setting it up, we’ll help you at the event
